Carlyle "Slim" Lewis

Director

I’m Carlyle “Slim” Lewis, the Head Assistant Coach at Miami Country Day, with over 16 years of experience on the girls’ side of basketball. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to lead teams to 9 High School State Championships, 2 National Championships, and a Nike TOC title. As the Director of the Miami Suns Youth Development Program and Co-Founder of Culture of Hoops, my goal is to continue grooming and developing future collegiate athletes from the ground up, helping them succeed both on and off the court.

Carolina Martinez

Leadership Gifts Officer

Carolina began training in dance at the age of 5 until an injury lead her to take a break for a couple of years. During her break from dance, she decided to tryout for an organized sports team and played on the Miami Beach Senior High School girl’s basketball team. She fell in love with the sport and the science of exercise, fitness and wellness and became a student athletic trainer. She later committed to majoring in Exercise Science where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Master of Science in Movement Science from Barry University. Today, she leads a team of like minded individuals that strive to improve the health, fitness and wellness of those they treat.

Carolina’s leadership skills, creativity and adaptability will contribute to developing innovative fundraising campaigns and initiatives for the Miami Suns Youth Program.

Glenn Martinez

Youth Sports Performance Coach

Glenn first began playing organized sports at the age of 4 on a boys basketball team. As an all around athlete playing on the basketball, baseball and track team, he dediced to try football during his Junior year of high school. He then committed to playing Division ll football and later gained the attention of many professional scouts. Glenn was an undrated free agent that went on to play 6 years in the NFL. After retiring, he dedicated his time on mentoring and coaching youth athletesnin Colorado and Florida.

Having earned many accolades as a student athlete such as “Athlete of the year” and “All American”, and playing a sport at the highest level, Glenn understands the importance of hard work and grit. He believes in developing mentally tough and overall physically stronger, faster and more agile youth athletes.

Gabriella Gassant

Coach

I began my coaching career at North Miami Senior before moving to Pensacola. I started training initially and then coached at Escambia High while pursuing a degree in Sport Management at the University of West FL. Upon moving back to South Florida, I became a part of the Suns organization in 2023. I look to bring a focus on player development, addressing both the mental and physical aspect of the game. Aiming to help build a cohesive program through effective communication and collaboration.

Lauren Carmona (Coach Lo)

After graduating in 2019 from Archbishop McCarthy High School, I went on to play my first two years of collegiate basketball at Santa Fe College where I became an Academic All-American, Conference champion and was honored to be selected for Second team All-Conference. In 2021, I transferred to Bethel University located in Mckenzie, Tennessee. Highlight of my time at Bethel was junior year when our squad won the first round of the NAIA national tournament and made it to the Sweet Sixteen. Graduated after my senior year and began my coaching career with the Miami Suns in early 2024 to stay involved with the sport I grew up loving. My goals are to impact the youth team by sharing all my knowledge and passion about the game and be a source of energy and motivation in a unique style.

Mariah Reynolds brings passion & experience to the Miami suns youth program as a former Broward College & FAMU women’s basketball player. Coach Mariah also known as “Coach Rih,” looks to contribute on the defensive end focusing mainly on rebounding.
